Three Nights/Four Days
Itinerary
Day 1: Inglewood District
On arrival to the Loddon Shire Tourism Region at Bridgewater 11.45am a meal will be served in the lounge of Loddon Bridge, Empire State or Royal Hotel.
Visit the Bakehouse Gallery with local photography, paintings and local produce.
In what once was Inglewood’s Courthouse, sit back and enjoy a renactment of court hearings from the 1870’s that were published in the Inglewood Advertiser. (Participation from audience is highly encouraged!)
A guided tour of Inglewood's Aurora Masonic.
Visit the unique Kangderaar Winery including afternoon tea.
A visit to the spectacular Melville Caves in Kooyoora State Park
Settle in at the Wedderburn Goldseeker Motel and the evening meal in the motel restaurant.
Day 2: Boort District & Pyramid Hill District
Breakfast in the Wedderburn Goldseeker Motel Restaurant and then head off to Boort.
A guided tour through Simply Tomatoes and learn how an antipasto product is made from green tomatoes. Enjoy a scrumptious morning tea.
Visit Glencoe Fish Hatchery. This hatchery is an enclosed, environmentally controlled, state of the art facility including a number of Australia’s largest domesticated Murray Cod. Barramundi is grown in the tanks to a size for the retail market.
Next a visit to Saluté Oliva which means: “Cheers to good health with Olives”. Saluté Oliva is situated at the eastern edge of Boort. This family owned grove produces first class extra virgin olive oil and a range of table olives. Grown organically and processed following traditional pickling methods, using only natural ingredients. The oil and the olives are available in various package sizes. Also sold on site are olive oil soaps and gift pack.
A short drive then to Boort's Olive Plantation owned by Timbercorp. This plantation when fully established may be the largest olive growing district in the world.
Lunch in the lounge of the friendly Commercial Hotel or Railway Hotel and then we head to Pyramid Hill.
Guided tour of "Pyramid Salt". You will be able to see how salt is extracted from the ground.
Take a stroll with a guide through Pyramid Hill Historical Society & Museum that has a fabulous collection from the pioneer days.
In your coach take a scenic drive around the famous “Hill”.
Before departing we will enjoy an afternoon tea in Pyramid Hill.
Dinner at Wedderburn Historic Hotel - inspect the mural of the Wedderburn goldfields and see the rare white fox. Includes local entertainment
Day 3: Wedderburn District
Breakfast in the Wedderburn Goldseeker Motel Restaurant.
Take a drive through the natural bushlands stopping off on part of the Wedderburn Goldfields where you will be given a Gold Detecting demonstration. Hold a genuine gold nugget found on Wedderburn’s Goldfields.
General Store Museum, Blacksmith shop and Coach House with morning tea or Loddon Visitor Information Centre located in Wedderburn’s original Primary School
Visit Wedderburn's Bakehouse Pottery where you will be able to sample our locally grown Pistachio Nut.
Visit the stone historic Anglican Church.
Demonstration at Cuzz’s Studio on pyrography onto Tasmanian sassafras bowls
Watch the process of Eucalyptus Oil being stewed in a Eucalyptus "STEW POT" and smell the lovely essence of True Blue Mallee Eucalyptus Oil. Enjoy a nice country style lunch.
Visit Wedderburn’s Community Garden where you can see the “Kangaroo Chair” which is an interactive sculpture, shaped like a large club lounge with Kangaroo legs and tail.
Dinner in the Wedderburn Goldseeker Motel Restaurant with entertainment by the famous Wedderburn Oldtimers Orchestra.
Day 4: Tarnagulla District
Visit McIntyre’s Run, a cottage style industry, producing home-style jams and chutneys from mostly local produce. Includes morning tea.
Town tour of Tarnagulla, the country town of churches.
Loddon Miniature Steam Locomotive
View the breathtaking Loddon River at Laanecoorie.
Visit Aussie Wool Quilts, the manufacturer of pure wool filled doona style quilts, pillows and blankets covered in 100% cotton.
Lunch in the lounge of the cosy Newbridge Hotel on the banks of the Loddon River.
Say our goodbyes.
