The Loddon Shire Tourism area is situated adjacent to the City of Greater Bendigo and is located on 3 major highways, the Loddon Valley, Calder and part of the Wimmera Highway.
The region enjoys vibrant communities such as Bridgewater, Boort, Inglewood, Pyramid Hill, Tarnagulla, Wedderburn and surrounding areas.
The Loddon Shire Tourism area is divided into three geographic regions, Southern, Central and Northern. The Southern and Central regions form part of Tourism Victoria’s ‘Goldfields’ and the northern area is part of the "Murray Outback". Each of the regions in the Loddon Shire is different but they do have connecting themes.
The Loddon Shire Tourism region is mainly unspoilt and can offer visitors an experience in a relax and comfortable atmosphere.
The Southern Region is Tarnagulla, Newbridge, Laanecoorie, Eddington, Llanelly, Logan, Moliagul, Rheola, Shelbourne, Waanyarra and Woodstock.
Nestled amongst these communities visitors can experience typical old gold towns with wide historic street scapes, surrounded by natural bush settings. Stroll through Kooyoora State Park and sit around campfires, tasting loca,l award winning wines. Great cycling tracks are available and camping along the Loddon River is on offer
The Central Region of the Loddon Shire is Bridgewater on Loddon, Inglewood, Dingee, Calivil, Korong Vale, Leichardt, Serpentine and Wedderburn.
The Central Region offers a diverse range of visitor experiences such as water sports, gold detecting and fossicking, solid historic buildings, eucalyptus oil production, cellar door wine tastings, broad open irrigated farming fields and dryland farming.
The Northern Region of the Loddon Shire is Boort, Durham Ox, Mysia, Mitiamo and Pyramid Hill.
The northern region is host to magnificent nature based tourist attractions from aboriginal relics, wetlands, woodlands, grasslands, isolated granite outcrops and bird life. Durham Ox is situated on the old Cobb & Co route now the Loddon Valley Highway. Farmland has been successfully value added into commercial olive crops, aquaculture, salt works, walnuts, green tomatoes and vineyards.
The Loddon Shire Tourism Region has a diverse selection of accommodation to suit all types of visitors ranging from motels, caravan parks, self contained units, farm stays, bed & breakfasts and camping.
Selections of eateries are available which include takeaway foods, hotels and coffee lounges. Visitors can always stop at a local hotel to hear good old fashion yarns.
