Loddon Alive News
Another recent innovation on Loddon Alive has been the incorporation of a facility so that the Loddon Community can list Events occurring across the Shire. To add an Event, simply go to the Events menu item in the Top Menu. Anyone can add events, but of course you must be logged into the site in order to do so. You can use the Login menu item to Login to the site and also to create a new account if you don't have one. Creating a new account will also give you access to the Loddon Community Social Networking area where you can build a profile and connect with others across the Shire.
One of the most important aspects of listing events is the venue. You need to be very specific with your event's address as the system will create a map that visitors to the site can access when looking at your event. If they are not familiar with the area where the event is to be held, then this is a great way to provide clear directions.
Loddon Alive is now a full blown Social Networking site. You can do all sorts of amazing things with our new Social Networking area on the site. If you are familiar with Facebook, then our Social Networking area should be a breeze for you. In fact, you can even sign in to the Community using Facebook Connect and Loddon Alive Community will import all your details from Facebook!
If you don't have a Facebook account, in order to gain access to the Loddon Alive Community, you will need to create an account on Loddon Alive. You must use a legitimate email address when doing so as you will need to confirm this in order to activate your account.
Read more: Loddon Alive Goes SocialThe fire season can be a dangerous time of year in Loddon and everyone in the Shire should have considered implementing their own Bushfire Survival Plan. Several of our towns in the Shire have quite a risk of bushfire and the lessons from Black Saturday in 2009 need to be well heeded. None of the towns in the Shire were identified in the 52 towns by the CFA where town plans were completed for bushfires. Consequently, there are no defined "Areas of Last Resort" within the Loddon Shire at this stage.
Residents should therefore have their own bushfire survival plan in place and monitor information on fire situations, particularly on days declared as catastrophic. The Shire falls into the Northern Country Fire District Rating District for Fire Danger Warnings, but into the North Western District for the purpose of Total Fire Ban declarations. This can be somewhat confusing so people need to be aware of the differences between the two types of areas.

We trust this will make it easier for people to navigate, speed up page load times and improve search engine optimization on the site. The code structure, (for the techie amongst you), has been revised in order to put the content closer to the top of the page. Search engines seem to prefer this when considering indexation of pages and gives them a better idea of the content. In turn, this should improve the rankings of many pages on the site.
