Mitiamo
“The Gateway to the Terrick National Park”
Lunch stop Mitiamo Recreation Reserve
- Local organisations will provide a festive atmosphere with light refreshments, stalls and entertainment
- Local pool will be open to allow a cool-down and relaxing swim after a long ride
- Flood photo display to show what really happens when three creeks meet and overflow and how the community coped and banded together
- East Loddon Historical Society (located Haig Street) will be open for participants to learn about the pioneers of Mitiamo and surrounding districts
- Join the Pyramid Hill ‘Major Mitchell’s Vision’.
Travel in the footsteps of the great explorer Major Mitchell, by taking the bus at Mitiamo and travelling the scenic route through the forest to Boort via Pyramid Hill (seat on the bus must be booked through Bicycle Victoria prior to the start of the 2011 Great Victorian Bike Ride).
Durham Ox
“Gateway to Boort and Pyramid Hill”

- By this point you’re hungry, thirsty and looking for a break. People form the district will be providing light refreshments including cold drinks, lollies, slices and fruit to get you through the last leg of your journey
- Have a chat with a local to learn about the history of Durham Ox
- Goulburn Murray Water and North Central Catchment Management Staff will be there with displays depicting irrigation practices and environmental works being conducted in the area, particularly in relation to the Serpentine Creek and Loddon River
- Locals will have a display depicting the flood events of 2010 and 2011

- 9:30pm watch the sky light up over Little Lake Boort with a spectacular display of fireworks
- At the Swimming Pool Area there will be, kids amusements, water inflatable and sausage sizzle
- Bus tours to the Spanner Man viewing sculptures made from spanners that are situated amongst a cottage garden
- Art Exhibition in Memorial Hall

Journey to the Goldfields
Day 7 Program
Cycling to Wedderburn:- on the sharp bend in Mysia sits the historic Mysia Store that is now a private residence.
A short distance from Mysia is a little community called Borung, which will become a hive of activity with a rest stop in the Borung Mechanics Institute Hall.

Is an Aboriginal word that means “The broad Leafed Mallee Scrub”
Rest Stop
- The Wedderburn College Parents Association and Lions Club will provide a festive morning with all proceeds donated to Wedderburn P-12 College.
Korong Vale
The Historic Railway Town
Lunch Stop
- On arrival in Korong Vale view Scully’s Hotel, the General Store and take a stroll through the Korong Vale Mechanics Institute Hall observing memorabilia from the early Railway, RSL, Football/Netball Club before trying your luck at indoor bowls.
- A lunch break organised by Bicycle Victoria will be situated at the Korong Vale sports ground with local organisations providing some light refreshments
- On departure from Korong Vale, cycle the winding road to Wedderburn, the Gold Seekers Town

3RD DECEMBER
Bushranger Country
Day 8 Program
On the way to Rheola for the first rest stop you will cycle past Kooyoora State Park. The bushranger Captain Melville used the areas as his base for attacking the gold shipments. Granite tors provide magnificent views of the district and the park has a wide variety of vegetation and a rich history.

The Home of the Rheola Charity Carnival which has been operating for over 140 years
- From 7am to 11.30am Loddon’s chance to say farewell to the participants in the 2011 Great Victorian Bike Ride with light refreshments, market stalls and entertainment.
