Do Robin Hardiman and the Adams family need to go on their proposed trip to Italy later in the year? After all they live a stone throw from Kingower.
Margaret Anne Wright recently turned 50 with 30 years of marriage behind her . Her and John celebrated with a trip to Italy.
I hadn’t seen Coral Holt for months ,started wondering if she had gone to Italy( everyone else has). Had a chat to her the other day and found she had a knee operation and has been under the watchful eye of leon and Jude for a few weeks. She is back home now, free of pain and recommends knee ops to anyone needing them.
Kathy and Don Dunstone are settled in Kalgoorlie. Kathy went for three jobs ,one as a payroll master ,one as a supermarket manager and one in health insurance . A lot of blokes are on their tractors so the football crowd was down ..What a couple of nail biters they missed. We were fortunate in having Rohan McHugh home to give us a very capable hand. It was good to see leigh Chalmers and Joey Kirk running around in circles with excitement during the last quarter. Nice to see Cameron Gould playing his second game with us and playing so well..Saw his mother Fay there watching ( well, chin wagging actually) Was amazed to see young Cameron Perry playing in the seniors but then again hes so good at all sports.. John Bainbridge was the deserving winner of Miss Wedderburn. Someone told me he carried it off very well looking graceful and very like his mother. He is quite a humorous bloke and likes a bit of fun.
During the 1982 drought my brother was contour ploughing, trying to hold the farm down and many were shooting sheep. My father came home on top of the world and triumphantly announced he had bought 350 of the best looking sheep he had ever seen These were the Elle McPhersons of the ovine world and ready to drop lambs. My brother went white and started to age before our eyes. My Fathers mental health became a popular topic of conversation and my brother went around muttering about his inability to feed his family ,let alone the sheep. The agent who was viewed as an accessory to crime was interrogated for signs of mental instability. He said my father had always taken risks and had never put a foot wrong and it would be alright .In fact he was the most uncanny sheep man he had ever seen Of course this did nothing to ease my brother worrying. A fortnight later the drought broke . The $12 Elle McPhersons turned into a gold mine and Dads status went from serial pest /madman/villain to legend. It was just as well his status rose as it continued to rain so that in July he got bogged, he got wet, he got cold ,he got pnemonia and died. Now this poses a big questions for me. Why did we shoot the sheep in 1982?? I have asked 4 farmers and their combination response was- Farmers realised they panicked in shooting the sheep and learnt a lot from it. Our overseas market is much stronger now. Maybe a bit of mad cow and a few million diseased chooks being killed has strengthened our market overseas as well
