Wedderburn CERT

The Wedderburn Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) are the first responders to 000 calls for the Ambulance Service.

As all calls fro the Ambulance are time critical, the Response Team arrive and begin necessary treatment before the Ambulance Officers arrive. Wedderburn is served by two Ambulance Stations at both Charlton and Inglewood, each 30 kilometres distant. In rural terms and on the main highway, this is not far at all in terms of time or distance and the Ambulance arrives in a very short period of time. Patients are then treated directly by the Ambulance Officers or transported to the Inglewood Hospital or in more serious cases to the Bendigo Base Hospital.

Wedderburn CERT has been serving the community since 2005 and up to 2008 had attended over 500 calls for assistance.

The community have embraced this service in Wedderburn and have nothing but praise for the service which is staffed completely by volunteers. All CERT staff have received high levels of training and are selfless in their dedication to providing this invaluable community resource.

If you would like more information on the Wedderburn CERT or would like to be a volunteer, we would love to hear from you. Volunteers are required in all areas, not just in attending calls. Perhaps you have administrative skills you could offer to the group.
