The Wedderburn Historical Engine and Machinery Society was formed in 1987 by seven people interested in the restoration and preservation of vintage engines and farm machinery. This membership has since grown to over 130 members.
The club acquired the use of the old Wedderburn tip site in Racecourse Road Wedderburn and have turned it into open park land. We have erected five buildings on this site and they are used to store and display our growing collection of vintage machinery.
Our major achievements are our Annual Twilight Rally and Swap Meet. Our rallies are attracting over 300 exhibitors from all areas of Victoria and many from interstate. It is one of the largest Engine Club Rallies held in Victoria.
Other achievements are the restoration of the Wedderburn Junction Railway Station building. This building was to be demolished, but was saved when we moved it to Wedderburn to use as our club rooms. We have also built an amenities block which has hot showers and a disabled toilet. The has enabled many more exhibitors to stay on-site for our two day Rally.
We built a foot bridge over the Korong Creek to enlarge the area we use to hold our Rally and we have completed a joint project with the Wedderburn Band Cricket Club in which we have provided a new pavilion for use by both clubs.
Our annual Swap Meet is held on the 4th Sunday of May and our annual Rally is held on the second weekend in September.
Meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 8pm at the Engine Park, Racecourse Road, Wedderburn. Visitors are most welcome.
