We have a Lions club in Wedderburn thanks to the Donald Lions club whose members devoted a lot of time recruiting possible members to form a club.
Prior to April 5th, 1977, the Donald Lions Club arranged a public meeting in the Senior Citizens Club Rooms. Guest speaker to outline Lionism was blind Lawyer, Lion Keith Smith from Melbourne. There was a great attendance from all sections of the community. The meeting was followed up with a meeting at Mr Eric Cashen’s home.
The Wedderburn Lions Club was inducted on 10th May 1978 and became a fully Chartered Club on Friday 4th August 1978.
One hundred and thirty Lions Club members, wives and guests attended this most important night in the history of the Wedderburn Lions club. The Club recently celebrated 30 years of service to the Wedderburn community with an anniversary dinner.
During the ensuing years the Club moved to different venues for our meetings. We stayed at the Hotel Commercial Room until June 1980, we then decided to become a little more independent and moved to Donaldson Park Administration Building where we provided heating, air-conditioning and financial help with an acoustic ceiling. The Club then with the help of the Apex Club and RSL, restored the old RSL building to provide a meeting room for the three clubs.

The Club now meets at the Mechanics Institute Hall and is restoring the old Library for use as Club Rooms. The Clubs main activities are the Annual Lions Auction in November, the Driver Revivor coffee breaks at Ryan’s Crossing on long weekends and Australia day Celebrations at Jacka Park.
Meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the Month.
